Autorun.inf itself is a simple text-based configuration file that tells the operating system which executable to start. Mostly, autorun.inf appears in your drive or external drive. Before I give you the complete solution for this problem, let me introduce to you what most people encounters when you are infected by autorun.inf.
Autorun.inf Mostly Encounters:
- Your drive or external drive can’t open directly by clicking double clicks using left side of your mouse action point.
- When you point your mouse to your drive and choose right click, open must first appear, but unfortunately it turns these ( (O)open, Explore, Autoplay) and your only option to open your drive is explore.
- Once you inserted external drive infected with autorun.inf and used left mouse action double clicks to your external drive, it automatically transfer to your PC drive or vise versa.
- Once you copy the data inside the external drive infected with autorun.inf and transfer it your PC drive, it automatically spread to your PC drive or vise versa.
Solution :
- Click " Start" menu, then choose " RUN", and type "CMD". To load in Dos Command.
- under the Dos Command, type "cd\" and hit enter.
- Type " attrib" hit enter. As you can see autorun.inf and other unnecessary files appears.
- Type " attrib -h -r -s" hit enter.
- Type " del *.inf" hit enter . Do the same procedure to other unknown files that your suspected viruses " gwen scandals.exe, 6phx.com, and many more)
- Type again "attrib" to see if autorun.inf was successful removed. If yes, do it the same procedure to other drive. If not, follow the next steps
-
Sometimes, their’s some viruses help the autorun.inf to trigger. So, even doing the procedure I gave to you doesn’t work. One of the virus I encounter is "6phx.com". I also tried to remove "6phx.com" from registry , but still no effect.
- In order to stop this viruses, you need flash Disinfector and use again the first procedure I gave to your to remove other viruses like 6phx.com.
